Pop in to a Unique Pop Up

As a teacher and mentor, every day brings its own satisfactions and I am never happier than when groups of happy students leave our kitchens with not just new skills, but lovely food to take home.

However, what I take particular pride in, and where the very greatest satisfaction comes, is when I can take a quiet pride in seeing our professional students go on to succeed in their chosen career path.  Which is why I am particularly pleased to welcome back, one of our 2012 alumni, Freddie Spindler, who is to host a pop-up dinner event in the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School on 5th November.

Freddie started developing his love of food and cooking in restaurants in Scotland, before completing our 6-month course to refine his talents.  Since then, he has worked in top restaurants in London and has ambitions to open his own restaurant in Edinburgh. With that in mind, his first ‘Social MUNCH’ event will take a bonfire night theme to introduce Freddie’s own particular style to an Edinburgh audience through a juice and food pairing menu.

Freddie’s menu will be a mix of meat and fish, with the traditional fireworks sausages being created by his local butcher to his own recipe.  It looks and sounds delicious and this very special event is aimed at a small group of foodies who want to enjoy great food and have fun. I am honoured to help him in this innovative venture – he has real talent, is a great cook, and is a young man determined to achieve his ambitions.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of Freddie’s path to being a top chef. Tickets to Social MUNCH no1 cost £30, with wine available to buy on the night, from http://socialmunch.bpt.me/

I wish Freddie well and I hope this is the first of many more!
