Autumn Courses 2015

Summer has finally arrived and I am sure that, like me, everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and loving the long, light evenings when there’s no better time to be out and about in the sunshine.

However, my thoughts are already some months ahead with the launch of our autumn programme which is an exciting mix of professional and leisure courses.  Each year, as autumn approaches, we see people starting to think about learning new skills or even considering changing their career, and learning to cook, at whatever level, can be a life-changing experience.

There can be few pleasures greater than dinner with friends, and there is huge satisfaction in hosting a dinner party and entertaining guests by presenting them with plates of delicious food.  For those who cook, perhaps the greatest challenge is to do so with minimum stress and to be able to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with their guests. For those who cannot, or do not, cook, it can simply be a matter of confidence and, by learning the basics; they can overcome their fear and take the plunge to invite people round.

Our programme covers all the bases – from a short Easy Entertaining course on a Saturday, Beginners’ Evening Classes for those long dark evenings, international cuisines for the more adventurous and right up to longer professional qualifications courses.

Tall oaks from little acorns grow, and often when people catch the cooking bug, they embrace it wholeheartedly, and consider how they can use their new found skills to open doors to new opportunities.  This is where the three- and six-month professional qualifications really do offer great career prospects.  Whether its basic skills for summer jobs or gap years, or a full career change to work as a fully qualified chef in professional kitchens, this is an investment that repays itself over and over again.

Our alumni have gone on to work in some of the most illustrious restaurants in the UK, while others make good use of their skills by cooking on board luxury yachts around the world, or setting up their own food-related enterprises.
