Wine Courses and Events
At Edinburgh New Town Cookery School we hold a variety of wine tasting courses and events throughout the year. They are led by Tom Bruce Gardyne who has written extensively on both wine and whisky and we can hold whisky events on request.
Tom Bruce Gardyne:
An early interest in wine developed into a passion while teaching English in Chile in the late eighties. This led to joining the wine trade in London, ending up on the buying team at Sainsbury’s where he gained his WSET Diploma. He then moved to Milan to work for the Sicilian producer Corvo and began writing on wine for magazines like Wine, Decanter and The Spectator.
After four years in Italy, he moved back to Scotland in 1998 to write full time on food, drink and travel. Over the years he has worked for The Rough Guide, Whisky Magazine, The Financial Times, The Sunday Telegraph and Caledonia Magazine, where he was contributing editor. Tom has travelled widely throughout the vineyards of Europe and The New World and has written three books on Scotch whisky. He has a weekly drinks column on The Herald and lives with his wife and four daughters in Edinburgh.
