Residential Cookery Courses in the Tweed Valley

In partnership with luxury holiday lets company Crabtree and Crabtree, Edinburgh New Town Cookery School will be running residential cookery courses at the five star Hoscote House, one of the Scottish Borders most magnificent mansions which is set in the rolling hills of the Tweed Valley.

We have designed two bespoke programmes suitable for cooks at all levels of ability.  Guests can sign up for a 4-day mid-week course or take part in a weekend cookery course, working with locally sourced, fresh seasonal produce to learn tricks of the trade including filleting fish, boning poultry and patisserie.

Under the guidance of Edinburgh New Town Cookery School’s expert team, guests will master recipes such as Pheasant Breasts with Cider and Apples, Pan Fried Halibut with Salsa Verde and Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé.

After a full day of hands on cooking, guests can relax and enjoy an informal dinner and informative wine tasting, led by connoisseurs from Corney & Barrow, one of the longest established independent wine merchants in the UK.

That is exactly what we aim to cater for with the residential cookery courses. No matter your level of cooking experience the classes will give anyone with an appreciation for food a chance to fine-tune their skills and confidence while enjoying some relaxing time away from it all with like-minded people.

With Hoscote House sleeping up to 20 people, guests also have the opportunity to bring a partner, who has the option to cook or opt out of the course. The beautiful country mansion is situated on a 450-acre estate with a variety of alternative activities including shooting, fishing and golf on hand to keep people entertained.
